Greek Bireme-3D Print Project / by Joseph Routh

I originally started with a small prototype version and then moved to a modified large version (below). To get the desired size, the design had to be built in three sections then scaled at 200 percent in the 3D slicer software. The mast sections are compiled from bamboo with walnut stain, the sails are fabric with symbology rendered with graphite, guy rope is leather wax chord, utilized the surgical knot for detail. The ship has 80 oars, approximately 21” long, ~14” height. The filament is PLA (Polylactic Acid). Used Autodesk Inventor software to engineer the ship. PrusaSlicer to create the gcode.
